Down the shoreline to the boat ramp, four of you abreast. Hold the
turbo as long as the bike will take it, and get the nose down before you land.
The bikes are real. The jumps are not. On the County Line Road tape Jim McGregor
describes “the campground where we rode our bikes” and puts it at
the same place as Shawn’s spider thing — which the record already fixes to
the Bud Man years. Somebody else on the same tape asks
“is that the same year we brought Brian our mountain bikes across the
lake?” So: mountain bikes, at this campground, in these years, carried over
the water. The ramps and the hills are invented. The only ramp anybody mentions
on that tape is the boat ramp, and nobody ever said they jumped anything. This is a
game built on a true detail, and the jumping is the part we made up.
